Peer Leaders
The NMS/NHS Peer Leaders (formerly Peer Mediators) are leaders in the school community. Some of the activities that Peer Leaders will be involved in throughout the school year include:
- Conducting peer mediations for students who are having conflicts with each other
- Acting as new student "buddies"
- Giving presentations to elementary school students on such topics as: conflict resolution, tolerance/empathy, anger management, and being positive leaders
- Assisting with "Stand Up to Bullying Day" skits and activities
- And more!!
What are the qualifications to be a Peer Leader?
Students in the Peer Leader program must maintain the following standards:
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA (high school) or A/B Honor Roll status (middle school)
- No out-of-school suspensions (OSS)
- No more than 3 days of in-school suspension (ISS)
- Sign a "No substance use" contract
